1st Saturday of the Month

Saturday night Austin was putting Dax to bed after a long day and no nap. As Dax was drifting off to sleep he put his hand on Austin's face and said "Depot. Fun." We did have fun at the depot, Home Depot that is. On the 1st Saturday of each month Home Depot has a kids workshop where kids are invited to create some sort of project in the store....for free. Dax has done this about 3 times, and let me tell you...he loves it! The first time we went he got his very own orange apron, which he wore for the rest of the day, and each additional time, they get a pin to put on their apron of the project they have constructed. Dax has made a go-cart, a mini serving tray, and last week, the Saturday that prompted the "Depot. Fun." was a football stool to stand or sit on. Of course, he's already "too cool" for the apron, he won't even put it on, but he loves going to the mini set up of a tool bench and hammering away at the nails, wood, or whatever else looks intriguing while Austin and I read and re-read the instructions on how to properly put the little craft together. We all have fun; you should check it out yourself with your little ones. Trust me, they'll love it! We're already looking forward to next month---a fire truck!

Brynn, I gotta admit, the first 3 lines of your blog almost made me cry! "depot fun" Dax is such a stud I cant even believe how cute he is. Im making Nick do that for sure with McCoy, that is some awesome bonding time for fathers and sons! HOpefully they let little 19 month old babies participate! Thanks for the idea. HOpefully they do that same thing here in utah! I LOVE reading your blog, your stories and picts are so great!

Oh my, I really need to look into this. I did not know that Home Depot did such a thing. Tanner would LOVE that. (And Brian taking him!) I will have to see if ours does the same thing. What a perfect thing for a little boy to do every first Saturday of the month.

Bryn,
Hi my name is Tawni DeWitt. I am a sister in law to Maryon that played softball with you at BYU. She pointed me in the direction of your blog when we were talking about fun activities that I could take my boys to. These Home Depot Saturdays look so fun! To make a long story short I was wondering if you would give me some info on the class. The only information that I could find on Home Depot's website was a class for 5-9 year olds. And even when I clicked on that, it wouldn't pull up any local Home Depot's. I know that Myr said you live down here in the valley some where, she just isn't sure where. Do you know if every HD does the class for younger tikes? My little boy is 2.5. I am not sure how old your little guy is, but he looks similar to Broc in size.

I have one more question. I also saw the picture of your little family in the Phillie's uniforms. Where did you get those done? They are so cool and we are looking for our next family picture outfits.

Well thank you for letting a complete stranger pick your brain! Your family is adorable. Congrats on the new little man! Boys are so fun don't you think?

If you would like to check out my blog to make sure that I really am who I say I am, feel free! I am linked on Maryon's under DeWy and Tawni, or you can just go to www.tawnisjourney.blogspot.com
Or you can just email me at tawnijean@hotmail.com

Thank you again for your time!

I'm so excited for this. I had to share with my sister-in-law because I knew my nephew would love it too. I already called our Home Depot here to find out more info and have it marked on our calendar! Tyann loves to watch the "wood shows" with Chris so I'm sure she would LOVE to have a daddy date and go build something.

And where are you living down there??? We need to meet for lunch or ice cream next time I'm down. (I wish it was SOON but I don't know when yet.) Email me! myr_d@hotmail.com

How Cute, my dad has been wanting to take Owen to this, but I wasn't sure he was old enough, but if your little guy likes it I am sure Owen will! We will have to give it a try next month!
