The Classics

Pictures are priceless. They bring back memories, put smiles of faces, remember the good ol’ days. Pictures are classic. There are the ones that will be your favorite for years down the road, that capture the moment, the personality, perfectly.

It’s almost guaranteed when you look through a baby’s album, there will be those traditional shots that will be captured in every single baby book you look in. For example, there will always be the first day of school shots. I know my mom has mine, and what a hoot it is to look at them! Most likely you’ll find pictures of the first steps, pictures of the child screaming with Santa Clause, pictures of a child running around in their diaper outside, pictures in the snow, in the pool, their first trip to Disneyland. You’ll most likely see pictures in the bath tub, in their Easter dress, at their school talent show, swinging on the swings, and learning to ride their bike. These are all classics. As a mom, you know you always take them, you don’t want to forget that memory.

Well, for me, for some reason, there is another category that is a classic. No matter how old Dax gets, I still have to pull out the camera for this one. I know one day he’ll outgrow it. It most definitely will not always be cute. In fact, I probably only have a few more years of this shot before it gets so NOT cute. But for right now, when he does this, when he looks this way, it always causes me to pull out the camera. I’m not exactly sure why. I’m not sure if it is the sly little smile, or the twinkle in his eye, or the joy you can tell he is getting out of looking this way. Either way, whatever it is, I love it!! See what I mean?

My mom has always told me that I was her piggiest eater. If there is one thing that Dax takes after me, it's that he is a piggy eater too...and to me, it's adorable! Next month, we'll start Wyatt on cereal and I'm sure I'll have a million pictures of his cute, messy face as well.

What shots of your kids can you never resist to take a picture of?

That is so cute and funny! I love seeing those messy face pictures all the way from little to where Dax is now! SO CUTE! I would have to say I love the messy face shot with Brayden too. With Tanner it was always me dressing him up and putting him behind a white backdrop. He had the sweetest little face. Some of my favorites are not even smiles . . .now he won't play into it. But, I guess I Just like all the shots that tell us about their personalities and who they are.

I must say I love reading your blogs! I love seeing little Ava in bows. Everytime I put a new bow or put a headband on her head I must break out the camera. I love taking pictures of Owen when he is acting goofy and jumping around, or playing with a musical instrument! We take a lot of pictures in our house! I have loved seeing yours!

Those pictures are so cute of Dax! I seem to always take pictures of Brooklynn coping something that we do or when she dresses up in funny little outfits!

A piggy eater he is! I love all those faces! I loved reading about your backyard too! Your boys are super lucky to have a mom who supplies such fun outdoor toys and games! As for pictures I love to take...crying, screaming, or tantrum throwing children. Horrible I know, but they just crack me up whenever I look back at them!

So you're telling me that boys don't grow out of the messy stage anytime soon? Cameron is a MESS!

I was going through my pictures the other day and realized I love to take pictures of when the kids fall asleep at the table. Something about them being so completely exhausted that they can't finish eating just cracks me up.

I love that behind all those messy faces is a cute little smile.
