All in a Day's Work

I think this is what Wyatt was trying to tell me today…

Well, I think this world
Is a real nice place (I have been here for 6 months now)
But I think that it's a crime
That I should have an older brother (named Dax)
Who picks on me all the time (to be fair, it's only some of the time)
So, next time he's sleeping in his room
I’m goin' to sneak in and tie him (I'll recruit someone to help me)
Then I’ll take him out into the street
And see if someone will buy him

My brother’s for sale ('cause he body slams me too hard)
Only fifty cents
Brother for sale ('cause he yells in my face too often)
He's not a big expense
You can hug him
You can bug him
You could buy or rent
Brother for sale, ('cause he plays a little too rough, and I'm just a little guy)
Only fifty cents

But wait...

He will always pick me up (or at least try)
When you take a fall (or in my case, if I roll onto the tile)
And he's good at showing you
How to catch a ball (or just putting it in my lap)
He always tells these funny jokes (mainly just sings silly songs)
And does this crazy dance (yes, definitely crazy dances)
Hey, wait!
He sounds like a pretty nice guy... (and pretty cute if I do say so myself)
Let's give him one more chance (mom's favorite saying too!)

My brother's not for sale
Not for any price
My brother's not for sale
I guess he will suffice
I like to hug him
I like to bug him
He's really rather nice
My brother's not for sale
Not for any price!

Shel Silverstein, right? Isn't this the poem from Where the Sidewalk Ends? I love it. What a perfect description of their relationship and a creative way to tell it. I love the additions or clarifications that Wyatt offers also. Too cute.

Those are some cute pictures. I can't believe how big he is. Very creative way to tell this story that will probably be their way of life for quite awhile.

That is so cute. I love it because that probably is what he would be saying. I love hearing you tell about the relationship between Dax and Wyatt. They are going to be great little buddies.

Whyatt, I was going to make an offer on your brother DAX! Im so sad that you dont want to sale him to me! I am on a tight budget and 50 cents was afordable for his cute little face. Infact,do you know that you were selling him way under his retail value!!!?? Gosh, both of you are too cute, im pretty sure your mommy and daddy wouldnt take the highest bid. Adorable post!!!

That is absolutely so sweet. It totally reminds me of Shel Silverstein's "one sister for sale"

Too cute. I love when they get close and take care of one another!!!!

So many of you have commented on this little peom and where it came from. To tell you the truth, I was watching E True Hollywood story late the other night about Mary-Kate and Ashley Olson and this was their first song they recorded when they were about 5. I thought it was so funny so I looked the lyrics up and it described Dax and Wyatt perfectly. So no, I'm no poet, and it must have been adapted from Shel Silverstein's poem as well.

SO adorable! And perfect! THe picture of Dax hugging Wyatt is so cute! I thought it was from where the sidewalk ends too. I love that you confessed it was really the olsen twins! That's hilarious!

Too funny. I think that would probably be Robby sentiment most of the time as well, but you seem to phrase things so much better than the rest of us!
