Baby Cakes

Over here we're getting ready for our baby girl. We're all pretty smitten with her already. We've painted the room, we've taken polls on her eye color (Wyatt thinks red), we've decided where she will sit at the dinner table (a major concern of Dax's), we're car hunting (seriously...dreadful), we're (as in me) are shopping for anything pink, we're (as in Austin) just keeps rolling his eyes at anything I purchase in pink, and we're excited as can be to have "three boys and two girls" in the family.

Except we're NOT okay in one area. She is nameless. Utterly, completely, nowhere close, to having a name. I tend to lean a little more towards traditional names. On the other hand, Austin doesn't want a name where he knows anyone with it. You wouldn't think, but that causes quite a discrepency. We have no list. We each have one we like. And right now Austin's front runner is Torrance.

I beg you, give me some suggestions to help me convince him to name her anything but Torrance.

Oh boy, this post bugs me...why is shopping only happening for things that are pink? You don't want it to look like pepto bismo threw up everywhere do ya? Gotta get some purple in there for me Bryn!!!! LOL
Names are hard!!! I don't think you are as traditional as much as you think, Dax is not and Wyatt is not really either. Both very cute though! Is there a sound you like? For example, I like names that end in the "n" sound and can't be shortened. Madison (we made the mistake and people call her Maddie and I get very upset and correct them), Lauren and soon Reagan...all "n" ending. Do you like names that end in a Y or IE? I have always loved the name Brooke (no N but I still adore the name) Do you want a strong name or a cute fun name? It is so hard, but you were able to pull it off with perfect names for your boys, so this will be no different....and you have a little bit of time! Hope you are feeling good! I am so excited for you!!

We are having our baby girl on Friday and thought of a name just a little while after Lincoln was born and have not thought of a different one since. Not without effort.(I spent the drive from OH to TX reading a name book)We like family names. The you-know-how-to-pronounce-it-when-you-read-it, but don't-know-anyone-else-with-that-name. The only other name that we thought of(and agreed on) was Quinn. The only other person that I know with that name is Heidi Mason's daughter. Another name is Avery. It's very popular in Texas(after a local jewlery designer), but I haven't met anyone here yet with that name. Good luck with the search. Can't wait to hear what you choose.

I can seriously say I am not very good in this department. I have lots of boy names I like...but struggle with girl. I always seem to sit with more comment names. (Emily, Emmy, Maggie, Annie, (can you tell I like "y" sounds...weird), Anna...so i really doubt I am any help) I cannot wait to hear what you end up deciding. I love that you are buying lots of pink...Happiness.

Torrance?? Really Austin, come on. Hahahaha! Naming babies is not easy for Shaun and I. We usually have a list of at least ten names and try to narrow it down to five before we go to the hospital. So at least you are down to two! You know I think Quinn is so cute and it fits with all your guys names! But just to give you guys some ideas here are some names that we had on our list while I was pregnant with Mckinley.

Maddyn
Kennedy
Tayley
Ellorie
Embry
Madison
Hayley

P.S. Mckinley wasn't even on the list till about a week before I had her. :)

Not going to lie, if you name your little girl Torrance it's definitely going to bring the MacGillivray cool meter down a few notches, sorry Austin. I'm lovin Quinn! It fits perfect. I can just picture her now in her little shabby chic room sporting her cute boyfriend cardi's. Yep, just wait for Austin to throw in the towel.

We loved the name Quinn, too! But everyone we told said, "like the girl on Glee" and that bugged my husband too much. And speaking of show names, Torrence- like Kirsten Dunst in Bring it On. I keep thinking Ta-Ta-Ta-Torrence- maybe you need to watch that one again.

Thanks for the support on Quinn! It is my total choice...I just have to make it the choice of my husband! :) Yes, anonymous (I have no idea who you are) like the girl on Glee, but not BECAUSE of the girl on Glee. And I am a total fan of Bring It On and think the same thing, but Austin grew up in Torrance so it has a special place in his heart. Awww! Except not gonna happen!! I love the suggestions too! Keep 'em coming! We need more to "discuss" (even though my mind is pretty made up!)

After I saw you last night, I thought, "I forgot to ask if she has any names picked out yet." I totally agree with Brittney- just wait until after labor and delivery and Austin should be softened up enough to let you name her anything you want! :) Quinn totally fits you and your family!

P.S. And I read somewhere that the one with the uterus gets to pick the name...

Bryn... Why ARE names so hard? At least you have 2 boys whose names you like. We were in the hospital with Jack and pretty much someone (me) had to give in... so I have a little boy that I love so so much with a name I think is alright. The girl names have been easier thankfully, we are down to 2 - Summer and Ivy. As for your 2, I really love Torrance (I was born there by the way) and I think it's adorable. I don't mind Quinn, but I only know boys named Quinn so I wonder if it's a trendy boy turned girl name? Maybe I shouldn't be sharing my opinion if it's not in your favor... I love you though!! So happy you're having a girl and buying pink!!!

This cracks me up! Yes, Quinn is definitely the front runner for me. Let us know when you would like us to start picketting outside! ;)

Well, I have given you our girl choices for the taking, and you don't want them, so I don't know how much more I can help. :) I'm sorry to Austin, but Torrance is not my favorite!!You guys will come up with something perfect!

Emily- I don't know if you'll read this, but I suggested to Bryn Ivy several months ago. I think it is a-dorable! I hope you go with Ivy! So excited for you both to have your girls!
